Tulip Festival at American Village

We had several missionary miracles this past week.  We were checking missionary apartments and waited for the missionaries to finish playing basketball for exercise and return to let us in.
One missionary was limping up the stairs and I said, "It looks like you hurt yourself playing ball?"
He replied, "Oh no, I had a little accident yesterday!!  Come here and I will show you my staples!!"
It turned out his bike handle bar was caught by the mirror of a passing car and it flipped him and his bike clear off the road!!  He received a serious laceration to the skull right through his helmet and had to take an ambulance ride because when he stood up, he fainted.  He was given 9 large staples to the scalp, had some swelling and an elbow scrape, as well as a knee scrape and swelling in his ankle.  He was treated and released from the hospital only receiving antibiotics.
I told him he had angels on his shoulders and  could have been hurt so much worse.  He needed some dressing supplies that I gave him and I reinforced to lay low for several days and be careful!!
We can see the hand of the Lord protecting these missionaries in so many ways!!
A set of Sister missionaries baptized a man after missionaries placed a Book of Mormon 20 years ago.  They were so excited because he is such a great person and found the scripture that teaches how to baptize and was sharing it with the sisters.  He was able to perform baptisms for the dead and is getting prepared to baptize his wife and son!!
The Senior missionaries went to the Tulip Festival on Saturday and really enjoyed the beautiful day together!!

This Continental soldier fired his musket and recruited us into the army for $4.00 each and gave us lessons on how to load our muskets(large dowels) and be in a firing line. Sister Barfuss & Elder Barker recieved $8.00 for volunteering as a  nurse and a captain!! Elder Barfuss said he was a Colonel and the soldier told him he had been drinking too much pint and handed him $4.00, saying this was a private position and a colonel would never be here!!  He was great entertainment!

The Veteran's Memorial was a wonderful art and movie clip display that made me cry remembering our Vets that I served for 21 years.  It was a tour through the building resembling the Old North Church.
In the entrance of the Veteran's Memorial, as we walked in with art work on all the surrounding walls.
Patrick Henry gave a 20 minute soliloquy in the sanctuary "Give me liberty or give me death!"
Elder Ensign and Elder Barfuss checked out the old fashioned "Stocks"
Elder Barker displayed other leg stocks!!
Riplica of the Lexington statue turning farmers into soldiers
A rock bridge over the wonderful lake with geese swimming led us on a lovely walk
                                                                                     George Washington
This Mount Vernon replica was an Eagle Scout Project with some great architects and backing!!
Sister and Elder Barfuss, Sister and Elder Ensign and Sister and Elder Barker enjoying the day
Sister Barfuss, Sister Ensign and Sister Barker all posing like tulips!!
Other people were pulling up the tulip bulbs with the flowers paying $1.50 a piece
