Moving Sullivans and Finding Missionary Apartments

Sullivan's Mission is finished  helping the military at Maxwell AFB and the ABM, so we took the truck and trailer to Montgomery 2 hours away. With the help of 8 missionaries, we loaded up.  Everyone worked hard stacking furniture and loading everything left after Sullivan's packed.  We loved the Sullivans and were inspired by them. They held FHE and Sunday services on the base for the trainees. They were so good to the missionaries and shampooed carpets and fed them meals.  They did housing clean apartment checks and were so thorough and helpful.  We enjoyed visiting with them, Sister Vicki's amazing quilts and Elder Sullivan's humor.  We will miss them a lot.
Elder Barfuss asked all the 8 of their impressions of meeting the Apostle, Elder Neil Anderson.  Each of them liked something different, like how congenial and down to earth he was.  Some remembered being called to repentance and were impressed with his testimony of Our Savior.  Neil Anderson talked about every mission being hard and a challenge.  I personally felt a joyful energy from him.  It was a very happy time for  everyone at the conference yesterday.
Elder Barfuss took the 8 out for donuts while I vacuumed the apartment.  Then we drove back to Hoover with truck and trailer full.  We had to have missionary help to unload the trailer into two garages and we unloaded a couch into a senior apartment.  We are still unloading the back of the pick up truck.  Each time we load or unload an apartment it is a great deal of work.

Elder Barfuss had been working on getting two new apartments according to President Sainsbury's instructions.  He had scouted out the internet and made several phone calls without success and had looked the better part of one and a half days.  He asked the Sister Missionaries to write down some apartment complex names as they drove around.  When they called him with the apartment phone numbers, all the apartments were full, but one told him about a friend down the road.  Elder Barfuss searched the internet for the phone number, only finding the address of the friend.  When he called the man back about getting his friend's phone number, it took four hours for him to return the call.  Once he had a phone number, he called the friend who said he did have one room to rent, but he was very picky about who lived there because most of his tenants were senior citizens.  When Elder Barfuss explained the church and missionary life, the apartment manager said, "This sounds almost too good to be true!" So we see the hand of the Lord in this miracle apartment.  Shortly after that, after no success, Elder Barfuss felt impressed to ask the Elders in the other area for their Branch President's phone number.  When Steve asked the Branch President for help in securing housing, he agreed to call around and in 10 minutes he called back.  The Stake Relief Society President's children had just moved out of her other house four days earlier and it wasn't even listed yet.  The home was up for rent.  They agreed to even put a washer and a dryer in it and rent the home for one of our senior couples.  This was so exciting because it was like finding a needle in a haystack!! Within 15 minutes, the Lord put two places for rent into Elder Barfuss's hands!! This made up both tear up when we realized what a miracle it was!!
