Traveling the Mission
Open roads Standstill in rush hour |
So far Elder Barfuss and Elder Tuck made a visit to Huntsville, 2 hours away, to get a bedbug infested mattress. They replaced it with a new twin mattress adding a bedbug bag over it. Hopefully the new mattress can stay free of them, since the landlords cooked the apartment at 165 degrees!!

Elder and Sister Barfuss traveled to visit and deliver supplies of light bulbs, chairs and bug spray to Elder and Sister Johnson in Northport, Elder and Sister Christensen in Jasper; who treated them to a great clam chowder lunch, and Elder and Sister Sullivan in Montgomery who shared her hand stitched quilts. These visits were traveled over three days this past week.
Elder Barfuss proposed a list of young missionary apartments that each of them could check every six weeks to two months. This would help to lighten the load of 93 total apartments that Elder Barfuss is responsible to check every three months! Steve proposed changes and Sister Tuck retyped the checklist in Excel that includes the Co2 alarm, smoke alarm, clean kitchen stove, fridge, sink and counters, bathroom tub and toilet, bedroom and living/study areas.
Most of the apartments are kept pretty well, but some of the carpets are in great need of a good cleaning. Sullivans have taken it on themselves to clean the carpets in all the ones they check on a regular basis with a dirt devil shampooer that is labor intensive. When we inspected one that had a newly cleaned carpet, we were impressed with how good the place looked and felt.
