Fairplay, Missouri, Sept 23-25, 2017

Steve and I traveled through Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri , Arkansas, Tennessee,  Mississippi, and finally Alabama.
 We stayed the night in a hotel in Clinton, Missouri and drove to Fair Play Sunday morning to visit my brother Ken Fairbanks' wife, Linda and their daughter, Jenny Mayor’s family. I had never met my niece Jenny and had not seen Linda for over 30 years!! For about 2 hours we hugged and visited with Linda, Jenny, her husband Ryan and daughter and took some photos.  We then found an LDS church 10 miles away and attended the Children’s Sacrament meeting Program and Sunday school.  The first person to introduce themselves to us had been Kenny’s home teacher!! That was a tender mercy to Steve and I.  His home teacher told about helping after Ken was killed in the warehouse fire and all the cleanup required.  Kenny died in October 2001 just after 911. Linda told us she had to have her children help her clean up all of Ken’s car parts and they had a big garage sale.  Jenny and Ryan are very busy helping their daughter with opera performing, coaching lessons and home schooling.
                                                            After driving the rest of Sunday we spent the night   
                                                                 just out of Birmingham, Alabama in a hotel.

Zone Conference with Elder Klebingat

Instead of 5 Zone Conferences, we had two(Inverness and Gardendale) with Elder Klebingat.  President Sainsbury picked him up at the airport Wednesday night, took him to dinner and to his hotel.  I enjoyed sitting at his table and finding out he and his wife have three children and he served his mission in Colorado, but grew up in Germany.  He was a Mission President and a Stake President in the past.  He instructed President and Sister Sainsbury on the car rides to and from Tupelo's Stake Conference and had a very open and matter of fact style.      President Ballard assigns President Klebingat and delegates to him the Apolstolic keys to function.  He said, "The Lord does not waste time, He has high expectations and is focused. President Muck's Confederate Senior Outing

     President Muck went to a great deal of work arranging for all the Senior missionaries to visit a Confederate cemetery, two museums and a historical iron mining site. It was rained out and rescheduled.  We all enjoyed Subway sandwich meals, catered by President Muck and delivered by the Elders. Overall we had a wonderful day together, even though we loved our air-conditioned van rides!! The Long Trip Home via of Georgia, TN, MS, MO,CO,SD,WY

     As we drove away from Hoover, car packed high, Rosie shed a few tears realizing the mission was past.  Just them Sister Savage called to check on us (she had been home 5 months and was in college in Logan, between classes, headed to ice skating!)  What a delight to take the melancholy down a notch!!      We drove through Atlanta, Georgia during rush h our toward Loganville.  Matt and Marie Allred (Lane and Jan's) live there with their four kids and he was just made Bishop 2 months ago. We enjoyed Marie's wonderful cooking and games with their boys.  Matt and Maire had taken an Anniversary trip to Chattanooga, TN and showed us photos of Ruby Falls and City of the Rocks.  They suggested visiting City of the Rocks.  Then we went to the hotel.      The next morning, we toured Stone Mountain in the rain and saw some films about the Monument.
